唐朝的时候，有个叫张生的读书人独自去京城赶考，中途借住在普救寺歇息。一天，张生在寺中偶然遇见一位漂亮的女子，多方打探，知道女子是原相国的女儿崔莺莺——莺莺和母亲因护送相国的灵枢回乡安葬也借住在寺中。天生丽质的莺莺令张生万分倾慕，为了能和莺莺多见几面，张生恳请方丈允许自己在寺中多住几天，方丈爽快地答应了张生。并安置他在西厢房留宿。

During the Tang Dynasty, a scholar named Zhang Sheng went to the capital alone to take an examination and stayed in the Pujiu Temple for a rest.
